From Snap to Station: Changing Currents at Avondale

Photo competition entries exhibited at Avondale Train Station

On 4 August 2025, the exhibition space on Avondale Train Station’s platform got a fresh new look. Whau the People installed Changing Currents — the second in a series of six community exhibitions celebrating art, environment, and creativity along the Whau awa.

This show features powerful and thought-provoking entries from the 2025 Whau Photo Competition, inspired by World Water Day’s focus on climate change. Each photograph offers a unique perspective on how the Whau River and its connected streams are shaped by, and responding to, a changing climate.

From serene moments of still water to striking scenes of environmental impact, the images celebrate the resilience of our waterways — and the communities who live alongside them.
