Last week Tony Miguel, Chair of Te Whau Pathway Environment Trust, awarded Ashaz Khan with his winning design on a t-shirt at Blockhouse Bay Intermediate’s Friday assembly. Ashaz and Tony had their photos with Ashaz’s Mum and Dad.
Ashaz’s artwork was one of the three designs that won a prize. The focus of the competition is to help celebrate World Car Free Day and raise awareness about the environmental benefits of reducing reliance on cars in the communities that live near the Whau River.
Te Whau Pathway Environment Trust awarded first prize to Ashaz for his wonderful level of detail and his catchy design.
About the competition

Each year we celebrate World Car Free Day with a t-shirt competition. In 2024 we had the highest number of submissions since we started so thank you for all the awesome submissions!
Shout out to Whau the People for organising and shortlisting finalists for the judges and taking the time to teach some lucky students how to design!
This was our fourth year running our t-shirt competition. You can see previous years entries.
Next September is not so long away – how will you celebrate World Car Free Day? Biking? Walking? Busing? Working from home? Or just get started early, and try to be Car Free one day a week from now on!
