More than a year after giving her initial cultural induction to site staff, Robin Taua-Gordon was back with son Tyler Taua-Gordon, sharing iwi connections and sites of significance with new workers starting at the Bridge Avenue site.
Māori middens, such as wide but shallow areas of cockle shells, have been identified in the area before, such as when State Highway 16 was widened in 2010. Te Whau Pathway workers have been advised of what to look out for and the process to follow if new middens are found.
The real prize of course would be the discovery of a waka, such as the waka discovered north of Auckland six years ago. Ka tino rawe tēra!
