Section 5
Laurieston Park to North West Cycleway
Section 5 connects the suburbs of Glendene and Te Atatū South.
This is the most northern section of Te Whau Pathway and will connect travellers to the Northwestern Cycleway using an existing service platform. From the cycleway they can travel west to Waterview and Point Chevalier or east to Massey and West Harbour. Section 5 has the greatest priority because of these existing connections.
Section 5 connects the following parks: Laurieston Park, McLeod Park, Roberts Field (which already has a pathway) and Covil Park indirectly via Bridge Avenue.
The pathway will be a combination of boardwalks over water and concrete paths within land reserves and parks.

Area 1 is the funded part of Section 5 as shown in the map snapshot.
Roberts Field to State Highway 16
This area of the pathway will connect Roberts Field to State Highway 16 via Bridge Ave. This priority connection within the Henderson-Massey Local Board will be the entry point to Te Whau Pathway and a key connection point between the existing North Western cycleway and the proposed bus interchange at Te Atatu. It will provide a safe off-road alternative route to Te Atatu Road, connect several businesses and sports clubs, and serve a large residential area.
