About this event
|When||World Car Free Day|
|Type of event||Design competition|
|Funded by||Te Whau Pathway Environmental Trust|
In celebration of World Car Free Day 2022, we ran a T-Shirt Design competition with a focus on how vehicles contribute to water pollution, including the Whau River. Download our Cars and Water Pollution flyer to find out more about this.
There were entries from 24 tamariki and rangatahi. The Trust found it easy to choose the winner but it took a bit longer to decide second and third places – so many great creations! Thank you to everyone who took the time to understand the theme and give it a go!

First Place: Jiayue Xu
Jiayue lives in Glendene and found out about the competition through Avondale College’s Environmental Group. The judges thought her image nailed it.
Second place: Annie Martin
Annie is 12 years old and goes to Henderson Intermediate. The judges found her entry super cute.
Third place: Meila De Sousa
Meila is 10. The positive message in Miela’s design made her a strong contender for third place.
