The Archibald Park pontoon is now complete

On the 29th of September the Whau Coastal Walkway and Environmental Trust had a great community event to celebrate the opening of the pontoon at Archibald Park. Lots of community groups participated including Kelston Intermediate, the Waitakere Outrigger Canoe Club, Kelston Community Hub, EcoMatters, Whau River Catchment Trust and the New Lynn Sea Scouts.

The works included a much needed upgrade to the existing concrete boat ramp and the introduction of a floating concrete pontoon structure. The new boat ramp facility provides a wider, uniform, platform to launch and retrieve water craft from the Whau River. The floating pontoon structure will rise and fall with the water levels in the river and will provide improved access as well as vastly improved access to the river channel for recreational activities and land based fishing activities.

Please like the Te Whau Pathway Facebook page for regular updates on the project.
